Dark chocolate and cocoa (without any milk content) are largely deemed beneficial for one's
health. They contain antioxidants which are believed to lower blood pressure. Although they
bring in a fair amount of calories, they appear to rev up the metabolism and promote healthy body
function. They do not result in weight gain if consumed in moderate amounts.
On the other hand: Other types of chocolate do not share the same "clean bill of health". Milk-chocolate, for example, or candy with creamy content are sure recipes for weight gain, especially if consumed on a regular basis. The high amounts of sugars and saturated fats in these items make for a bad combination, negating any of the health benefits above.
